This song is a collaboration between myself and someone I have never met, who lives over the other side of the world. It was recorded totally in GarageBand.
Have a listen to it here. (http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=22774)
It would be great if you guys could leave a comment and tell us what you think.

eh the song is ok, but wow the vocals sound exactly like the lead singers from Cake and Our Lady Peace. If i didn't know better, i could have sworn one of them did the vocals ;)

Wow. I really like your singing voice. The whole track sounds amazing actually though. Makes me wish I spent more time playing guitar...

Very nice collaboration, especially over the distance! Vocals are great, and I like the whole mix, and it sits together very well. How did you two meet? You should definitely work together again. You're both clearly very talented. :)

We met up through iCompositions, which is a great place for Mac users to share and discuss their own music. Hmm, I'm starting to sound like an advertisement... Anyway, "Ignoramus" heard my acoustic version of the song and just had to rebuild it from scratch.
Feel free to check out my other stuff (http://www.icompositions.com/artists/Diversion/) too if you're interested.

Well, all I have to say is WOW. I'll have to listen a few more times to figure out if I like the lyrics, but the sound quality is phenomenal. Where did you record this? It's very well balanced too, the instruments are just right, as are the vocals. Great job!

Nice, really nice. ONLY criticism: work a tiny bit on the lyric. The main chorus -- "at the moment of impact -- i really should have told her how I felt" -- is so great that I wish some of the other lyrics packed as strong of an emotional punch. But, that's just the English teacher in me. The rock fan in me was very pleased with the restrained emotion and energy in the track. You guys should go for it big time.

Thanks for your comments guys. The whole thing was recorded in GarageBand. The vocals were recorded in my lounge room (in Australia) with a fairly mediocre vocal mic through an M-Audio FW410. The guitar and stuff was recorded straight into the Mac in Ignoramus' lounge room (in America).
As for the lyrics, I think it was actually my intention to hold back on their impact until the final chorus. It sort of sounds like a regular old lovesick pop song until the dude gets hit by a train.

Wow, I can't believe that. I was going to say that sounded awesome for a amateur recording, but I didn't want to offend incase you did it in a sound stage. All the people I know who are serious about music and have made demos never come close to the sound quality you reproduced in those songs.

Thanks for your comments guys. I didn't expect much attention at all from this. I just wanted some more opinions.
Influences: White Stripes, Radiohead, Nirvana, Reef, Primus, Tool, Placebo, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Tom Waits, Greenday, Goldfinger, Queens of the StoneAge, Queen, A Perfect Circle, Ween, The Polyphonic Spree, Ben Folds Five... and I'm sure there's plenty more.

That's quite a good and powerful song. I listened to the new one first
then the acoustic one. I like the simple haunting opening of the acoustic
version, but the ending of the full-featured one is more powerful.

You have a really great voice. Reminds me of that dude from Greenday and Maynard James Keenan. Even a hint of Axl Rose. Keep up the great work. I need to get an account maybe we could collab. I have a tonne of stuff that needs vocals.
