I was bored today and discovered something about G4 speeds. The last few major revisions of the G4 have been clocked at: 500, 667, 733, 867, 1000, 1250. Now if you take 500 and add 20% it is 600. Do the same to 600 and it is 720. Using this method it comes out to: 500, 600, 720, 864, 1036, 1244. After 600 it seems to be fairly close to actual processor speeds. If you continue the sequence then the next two speeds in the series are about 1.5Ghz and 1.8Ghz.

Just an interesting discovery I thought I would share.

Yeah that's fairly accurate, but don't forget, there was also the 466 and the 533.

Apple may have decided that upgrades of about 20% each time is what it takes to keep people interested.

I chose to start with 500 though. And the 533 seemed like such a trivial update that I didn't include. We won't be seeing that small a clock speed increase anytime soon so why bother?
