I need a new pram battery for my clamshell.

BTW - are they tough to install?

Thanks,
Zach

I believe the Clamshell iBooks did not have a PRAM battery.

Apple TIL 58445 notes the iBook has no backup battery to retain time and other settings when the main battery is removed. A small capacitor holds enough energy to maintain PRAM contents for 20 seconds, so switch batteries quickly.

Ah, thanks. That's why it sometimes loses time - dead main battery! :p

No problem, I have the same problem on my PowerBook G4 12" and my Clamshell iBook. It's a common problem. If you can find a battery that can hold even a 10 minute charge it should be able to keep the battery time. My Dad's iBook's battery only lasts 5 minutes and it keeps the time although your results may vary.

Yeah that's a lifesaver sometimes. If your interested in a semi-working iBook clamshell battery I'm sure someone here is willing to sell one.

nah, i just received this clamshell and the battery is excellent, 4 hours.
its just ive been taking it apart a few times to make chances to the inside, and to do so i take out the battery first.
when i put it back in and fire it up, and notice the time is wrong, well that was what made me start to think i needed a new pram battery, lol.
