Need help connection my camera to my powerbook

Hello,

I have a Canon XR200 and I just bought a Powerbook. I have the correct firewire cable but my Mac is not recogizing the camera.

Am I missing some software or something?

uh.... I've never heard of a XR200... and Canon's site hasn't seemed to have heard of it either (a search for XR200 had no results).

Haven't heard of it either. But it general, the video camera won't show up on the desktop. You have to use a program like iMovie or Final Cut to recognize, control, and capture.

Is it a DV camera? HI-8?

Having never heard of this model, I really can't help at all but to say it must be a DV cam and you have to use iMovie....
