Windows Media Player won't delete!

I try to delete my Windows Media Player 9, and it says "The operation cannot be completed because the item 'htm' is in use."

What's up with this?!
 
ok this is the most annoying post EVER for the love of god, bold and like size 5 you have got to be kidding me.

why don't you end the htm process

Ok, sorry.. new to a lot of threading myself.. just messing around with format a little.. disable the htm process? sorry, kind of don't know what you mean.. ack!
 
Activity Monitor, then make sure it is showing all processes, look for this thing htm and then press quit, then try and delete the program

and if it deletes i would restart your computer just to make sure

Good call, I should have thought of that (don't use too many utilities); there's no 'htm' or now 'wmphelp.htm' process that's shows up in Activity Monitor, but it still prevents me from deleting WMP in the trash.

Log-out and log back in, that should quit any active processes that would keep you from deleting 'htm'. In the off chance that this doesn't, restart, and that will certainly allow you to delete the file. Since it's an htm file, quitting all open browsers/help readers ought to do the trick.

Those would seem like the right routes to try, but still no luck. When I secure empty trash, it'll says item .htm is in use; when I simply delete, it'll say cannot be completed b/c ...wmphelp.htm is locked; click continue (vs. stop emptying trash) and it says WMPIcon.gif is locked...windowshade.gif is locked... etc. And Windows Media folder is the only item in the trash.
 
Googled this up...

Well I did a quick google and found someone with your exact problem, someone also posted a fix which seemed to work for him.

to delete WMP click on Trash then open the Terminal application. In Terminal type cd followed by a space and drag Windows Media Player from the "Trash window" onto the Terminal window and hit return.
You should now see something like your_computer_name:/.Trashes/501/Windows Media Player.app your_username$ in the Terminal window.

Now type cd .. and hit return. Now if you type ls and hit return you should see this: Windows Media Player.app. To trash WMP now type sudo rm -rf "Windows Media Player.app" and hit return.

When prompted for Password: type your administrator password. This should empty the trash and thus remove WMP.

Hey learn something new everyday, I didn't know you could drag a folder onto terminal to copy its location. Neat. 😀
 
they don't make it easy... Microsoft....

Usually it's just junk on their OS I'm trying to scale back or delete....

ahhh... bloatware!
