I just purchased a Canon DC20 DVDcamcorder but imovie won't recognize the device? According to the directions, box, and included software the camcorder is compatible with iMovie. However, the camera only has a USB2 interface and according to other postings, imovie is not compatible with USB2 camcorders? I am very confused. How can Canon say the camera is compatible with imovie if the OS won't recognize a USB2 camcorder? Does anyone have experience with this issue? I am running tiger (10.4.2) If not, I am going to return the camera to best buy. Thanks for your help.

iMovie won't import footage via USB2, nor can it recognize mini DVDs (as opposed to mini DV).

Sorry man, but the box is WRONG.

You might be able to use image capture to get the footage off, but I have never tried it.

Aren't there 3rd party programs that let you use USB cams with iMovie?

Honestly, if you just purchased the camera take it back and get a MiniDV camera. DVD-based cameras like that are just going to be a PITA and offer inferior quality compared to MiniDV.
