Does this happen to anyone else?

This has happened in many apps. The only ones i have noticed are finder, safari, and ichat. This happens all the time. I know a clean install won't fix this because this happened on my Mac mini and i just got a new iMac and it's the same thing. Also i never noticed this with panther. Any feedback?

I assume you mean the yellow minimize button is missing? This was a problem for many people with Tiger. It was fixed in 10.4.1 or 10.4.2, I forget which one. Try upgrading your OS. The quick fix was to use the green button and the yellow one would reappear.

i'm using 10.4.2 and like i said it's not just on my imac so it doesn't need a reinstall.

Have you tried repairing permissions? :confused:
