i try to download wmp for OSX and the file that i get opens in excel... how can i change this? dont know what app to open it with

I believe the WMP install comes in StuffitX format. Download Stuffit Expander (http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/download3.html) and you should be able to sort it out.

cant you go to Microsofts site and just download a Mac version?

Stuffit should work, as croshtique kindly states. If it still isn't happening for you, then try a different browser. I know IE for Mac has some problems downloading WMP ironically. :p

i third the stuffit recommendation. aside from that...maybe your computer is trying to prevent you from doing something stupid... ;)
