I'm guessing the best cheap one you can buy??!! (Not that this really helps!) but out of all the cheap ones, which one is the best?! Yes, budget is needed.

I can strongly recommend the Sony DCR-HC21 mini-dv camcorder. Lists for 399.99, but I recently purchased one for 338.00 (including shipping). Literally small enough to fit into a pocket, but full featured, even including image stabilization and NightShot filming. Have had one previous Sony camcorder and a few other brands over the years, but am the most impressed and pleased with the DCR-HC21.

I've owned a Canon miniDV cam for about 5 years....works pretty good still.

You should post some more requirements so you can get a better answer....

For that price range, a JVC GRD-31 or GRD-31 would do.
