I don't know! I know I sure am feeling a bit.. excited, even though I really do not like the way Apple releases products sometimes.
Less than 24 hours away.. anyone else is ready to spring on that new PB?

Feeling that way is fine, but where Apple is concerned I prefer to lower the expectations. The odds usually favor people being somewhat disappointed, but the wait will be over soon. I hope those who've been so patient and holding off on purchases gets something that has been on their wish list.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I highly doubt there will be PB updates for tomorrow. It just seems to make no sense.
If Apple is really going to launch new products tomorrow, it will be something NEW. Beyond the new iPods, I'm expecting to see something like an "iMedia" for home entertainment.

Okay...
Number 1 . . . Why a video iPod? Nobody wants to watch videos on their phones, why would they want to watch videos on their iPod? Only the Japanese (the world's most notorious gadget heads) want to watch videos and movies on a tiny screen.
Number 2 . . . The PB updates are coming, but probably not for a couple of weeks. I have been waiting since May and I am prepared to be disappointed with tomorrow's event. My prediction is October 25th for PB and PowerMac updates.
Number 3 . . . Why doesn't Apple bring back the Newton? I refuse to get a Windows-based PDA and I am sooooo sick of the inferiority and sync issues with my Palm OS device.
Here's hoping PB's are updated tomorrow. I'm getting one ASAP!

I don't really mind if the announcement is just about new iPods so long as all the other ones get a slight discount (but hopefully the nano! I really want one :p ). Interesting, Fox Channel 2 news report just said that Apple is likely to release the Madonna theme pink iPod w/ her complete collection of music tomorrow. I'm guessing they're not really reputable, though, huh? :o
It would be nice to see upgrades to the computers... but I'm not really in the market so it doesn't directly impact me.

That'd be slick - arch one eyebrow and call Steve Jobs by his full name (the way he does with people with name badges in his films) then tell everyone that he's Colonel Nathan Jessop, they can't handle the truth & he pulls an HD Powerbook G5 out of thin air.
Exalt.

Even though I would like to see updated line ups from Apple (especially for their pro lines), I am hoping, at the same time, they don't release updates (sorry, folks, even by thinking this way). I am addicted to tech equipment and my place is over flowing with boxes I opened up with recent purchases. If Apple releases updated pro line, I am very tempted to whip out my credit card, even though I may not need the updated ones as I have already sufficient arsenal of computing equipment.

Remember when everyone was expecting a Newton and all we got was an iPod? About 7/10 people said it was gonna be a flop, and I can totally agree with that. </sarcasm>
Remember right before Apple announced it was switching to Intel Processors? About 7/10 voted negative on the threads. When it was actually announced, about 8/10 voted positive.
How is it gonna work now? Let's take an average thread and see how it will turn out.
"Video iPod Really Coming on October 12th?
82 Positives, 38 Negatives
My guess is that when Apple ACTUALLY releases it, it will be a big hit AND the Macrumorers will vote:
100-150 positives, 10-20 negatives
I'll wager my new Video iPod on it.

I feel the same though interested, not in another videopod thingy but when the first new machine based on the X86 shows. Powerbook is behind but i wonder what the next MacIntel Desktop is going to look like? Looking at the Developers Powermac its clear Apple would redo that gigantic case into something 1/3 -1/2 Powermac size. Interesting that those 2 PPc's needed all that space and cooling yet the developers 3.6 P4 set up made that case look empty. :D

Besides, today's announcement is about the new Apple iPal, a PDA where the entire front face is display and the controls are along the sides for easy use when holding it. It uses a stylus or finger touch. Yes, it does do video and tunes but that is just a side thing. :)

What the hell is an HD Powerbook? A powerbook with a new video card? A screen that supports HD? It'll probably only have an 1.8GHz G4 or something. I haven't heard good things about HD video and slow computers.
And are they going to have HD on a 12" Powerbook that's NOT widescreen?

Not jittery, because I'm not really in the market (although my birthday and anniversary are right around the corner). But just for the heck of it...
• 30 minutes raving about: iPod nano success, Mac market share, OS X, blahblahblah
• Official acknowledgement of Mac mini spec changes
• minor updates to PowerBook line, maybe with a small price drop
• Unveiling of new 970MP based dual Power Mac G5 high-end machine
• stupid pink Madonna-branded nano that comes with a discount coupon for her entire library, and that will ultimately and mystifyingly sell 7 bajillion units (looking forward to the after-market clickwheel add-on joystick shaped like a conical bra)
one more thing
• iTunes Media Store now offering downloads of music vids and other short content like video podcasts, which will be viewable on the new
• 40/80GB iPod with larger screen, smaller click wheel, and the ability to play back content on the iPod or on your TV

So, how do the brick and mortar Apple Stores work during these events? Unless the new iPod is a colossal disappointment, I will be picking one up today, as my 2G hasn't been able to hold all of my music in quite awhile. Does the store close and then open up again after the announcement? Or do they remain open and just put everything out after the announcement is over, or during the announcement, or what?
I plan on going up there at 1pm CDT, which would be an hour after the announcement is set to begin. Any words of advice?
On topic: I'm excited about getting a new iPod, as I've wanted one for the last year or so. I don't really care if it plays video or not...I'm getting a new one either way. So, yes, I'm a little jittery. (:

How about an iPod that can store video...which you either put on a flat surface or hold in your hand facing a wall and it projects the picture?
It could then use those (were they Bose?) 'virtual speakers' to project cinematic sound from the snake's-ear size holes in the side of the casing...
Just wish I hadn't used the credit card to buy the Nano.
