Powerbook 170. I love the little guy, but I worked at a record company and we were soon to move to all using computers, PC's. Even though our Prez at the time, Howie Klein, pushed for Macs. he'd have won that war today.

Ordered this baby August 7 - within an hour of it being released and haven't looked back.
This is the 3rd Mac in my house, but "my" first Mac - I love it - and if it wasn't for the fact that I have to run some Windoze apps for work, I'd have changed a long time ago.

Tibook running at 1Ghz, $3,000 on that baby. Just sold it last week for a hefty $470 haha depreciation is a fact of life, but try to squeeze that out of a PC laptop after 6 years!

My mom had an Apple IIci when I was like 8 or something, and I played space invaders on it and had a lot of fun with ClarisWorks, but my first apple computer was my 333 Mhz G3 iBook with firewire. I loved that thing, but I can't possibly imagine how I put up with running Final Cut on that... I could never go back to it.

I got my first and still current Apple computer last year. I got 15" MacBook Pro. I had never really had any sort of experience with Macs up until that point, but it has been a decision I will never regret. It it leaps and bounds better than anything I had used previously and I always look forward to what I will be using next when I choose to upgrade.

I started out with the iBook G4, late summer model 2005. Bought my wife the same machine many months later as a wedding present, and realized that they changed the basic feel of the keyboard.
I've since purchased a MacBook, and have just put the payment down for an iMac, and I'm waiting for it to arrive.

I started out on an Bondi Blue iMac G3. Then I moved on to my current computers: iBook G4 and iMac G4, both purchased new in Spring 2004. i have recently made upgrades to those computers. My iBook now has 1.25GB ram, an airport card, 160GB hard drive, super drive, a new keyboard, and runs Leopard. My iMac now has an airport card, 1 GB ram, and runs Leopard. Both computers are now 4 years old and run great!

But if you bought an iMac you wouldn't have portability, and if you bought a MBP you'd have a hell of a lot less money :p MacBooks are a good start.
Before looking into another Mac, research what you feel you're missing from the MacBook...

It was about 1992ish - an LCII (with 2Mb RAM!!!) and a 14" colour monitor - I loved that machine as it seemed fast and lovely - I think it was OS7.1. I remember making my own sound bites and assigning them to system bells - ahhh what fun times... and playing lemmings of course.
68030 @ 16MHz w00t with 40Mb Hard disk (back then CDRoms were 2xspeed and about £300 so I didnt have one)
She went about 1998 (due to lack of space with my PC taking centre stage) - the folly of our youth eh?
Now its a pair of intel macs (one for serious stuff and one for playing on the web and showing photos in the field)

My first computer was a Compaq with ME on it that had 866mhz CPU and a 20 gig HD . . . let's just say I wanted to burn the thing and give its ashes and exorcism so it would never haunt me again. After 4 or 5 years with that thing, I got sick of it and convinced my parents that a PowerBook G4 1.33GHz 512mb 12" is what I wanted after telling them all the benefits of mac and how it will be integrated into the future. I chose mac because 1. wanted to stay the hell away from anything that was windows for a while. 2. Didn't know too much about linux back then, and luckily they had recently opened up a mac store in the mall by my house so I was able to show my parents how shiny and spiffy of a laptop it was ^_^

A 350mhz slot loading blueberry iMac. Got it for Christmas in 1999, in time for me to start college in 2000.
I have a ridiculous emotional attachment to Big Mac, formed by three years (had to buy a iBook my senior year) of typing papers at 2a.m. and lugging him up and down the six flights of stairs in my dorm in a laundry basket at the beginning/end of each year and holidays.
I'm happy to report, even at its advanced age of 9 years, it's still in use today. I pimped him out last year with a 600mhz logic board, dvd drive, 120GB HD and 1GB of ram. So it's Big Mac 2.0, a great little machine that zips right along and still proves useful.

She finally bought herself a LC II the next year, and I could take my computer with me. Then I bought a Performa CD/TV, a PM8500, a PM9600, a Powerbook G4, a Mac Mini, and Finally my beloved Mac Pro.

My first one was an Mac SE with two floppy drives, in 1987. A year later I paid $600 or $700 for an external hard disk with a whopping 20 megabytes!
This was followed by:
SE/30 (1990 or 1991)
60 MHz PowerMac 6100 (1993)
66 MHz Power Mac 6100 (1994) when the first one died.
PowerMac G3 (1998) (I don't remember how fast this one was)
Single-processor 1.25 GHz PowerMac G4 MDD (2003)
8-core 2.8 GHz Mac Pro (arriving in a few days :D)
I kept the SE/30 until it died in 2004, because I had a database of my classical-music collection on it using a relational database (Reflex Plus) that didn't work on any new Mac after about 1992. After the SE/30 died, I moved the database to MySQL on the G4.

First Mac I had was a Performa 6300 (I think that's the number), it was a slow PowerPC but ran all I needed at the time just fine. Put a USB card and a 16mb PCI graphics card into it. Got the full multimedia suite, so it came with 17" Apple screen, and an Apple printer (I forget the names of these, they've both died by now).
The Performa still works, but I've little use for it now.
Since then I've got a 400mhz G3 iMac, a PowerMac G5 and am now using a MacPro.

My first mac was an iBook G4 that I got when I started junior high school and my pc was going south. That got stolen in 9th grade homecoming so I went back to the pc for awhile... then november of the same year, apple had like $100+ discount during thanksgiving or something, and I had a orthodontist appointment, my dad drove to the valleyfair that was really nearby (like 5ish miles) and i got my current laptop, a macbook. I currently a sophomore lol.

when i told a friend i bought the new macII(x!!!) with EXTENDED KEYBOARD he replied, "you stud!". my hard drive had FORTY MEGS!!! and 8 megs of ram when ram was $365 PER MEG!!! my apple laser printer cost THIRY-FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! my 17" monitor was deeper than it was wide!!! quark xpress and aldus pagemaker were still battling for prominence, adobe illustrator and aldus freehand were also. i went the pagemaker/freehand route but switched to illustrator/quark when updates past 1.0 dominated. everyone was learning from ground level and not even teenagers knew that much. the initial investment for computer, monitor, and printer was absolutely outrageous but we had no alternative to compare it to; graphic design on a pc before windows was not an option. btw, no programs seemed to be able to make a decent black-to-white gradation printout, which was necessary because printing companies needed "mechanicals" on boards (eventually they could miraculously take your FLOPPY disc or OMEGA drive disc). don't get me started about modem text interfaces before the internet. simple things were all such a huge struggle, and clients could change your work before acrobat came around.

Powerbook G4 12" 1 ghz. Now have the 1.5 ghz PB 12" and want a MBP but the 15" is too big for me being that I am a professional traveling musician. The 12" form factor is perfect for me. I still wish they would release a 12" MBP but looks to never be.

My first Mac was a G5 20" iMac that I bought at Costco in January 2006, I got caught in the iPod/iTunes Halo effect as I just recieved my 1st iPod for Christmas in 12/05. I had some extra $ and the price was good (and it came with AppleCare) so I figured I'd see what all the fuss was about.
Trying a Mac was the best computer decision I ever made!

Mine was a Mac Classic purchased in 1991. 8" grayscale screen, really really slow. Also a 14.4 modem when they came out, it was my first modem. My first Mac was a Macintosh Plus with a SCSI cable added internally. I didn't use it much because I had a Commodore 128 that was loaded with software, RAM Link, two 1571 Drives and 3/5 floppy. Plus the CMD was color. The next Mac I got was a Quadra 800 which I then used more than the CMD. Still got that Quadra. 76Mb of RAM and 4 hard drives in that bad boy.

The first Mac I ever used as a "512K Mac" it was a little "all in one" mac that did not have a hard drive, just a floppy drive. I still have one of these and last I checked It still powered up and ran.
With 1/2 MB of RAM, a 9 inch black and white screen the "System 1" software it sold for $3,300
We used if for software documentation. Before then Mac We'd use black pens on blue line graph paper, stick-on letters, tape and an xacto knife for graphics.
But for "real work" we were all on Sun equipment Both the Sun and Apple mac used Moto 68000 CPUs but while apple make "cheap" low cost stuff Sun's stuff sold for $50K to $200K per unit (back when 50K was more then many of the younger engineers made in a year)

The first Mac i used was a Macintosh Centris 660AV... it had a 25 MHz 68040 Motorola CPU.
My first owned Mac was a PowerMac Digital Audio 466 MHz, that i upgraded with a Sonnet G4 1,4 GHz CPU and maxed the RAM out to 1,5 GB in late 2005. My second Mac (for a short time) was a PowerMac G5 DP 1.8 GHz, maxed out with everything.
My actual Mac is the Mac mini, the one, i have in my sig and using it mostly for scaning on my old A3+ Heidelberg scanner and for archiving purposes of my documents.
I also have a PC (E8200, 8 GB RAM, 150 GB WD Raptor + 2x250 GB HDD in RAID-1 for archive, and a GeForce 7300GS with two displays), that is much more powerfull in meaning of memory in CPU and that one is my main working computer today. Using Windows xp x64 on it.

My very first purchased Macintosh was a LC III in 1993.
I had worked on a Mac SE or a Mac Plus prior to that, from 1990 onwards , for my employer at the time.
That baby had a 160 MB hard drive, a 13-inch color monitor capable of 256 colors, 8 MB of RAM, as I recall, which I eventually upgraded to 32 MB of RAM, and I believe the CPU speed was 25 mhz.
The very first modem that I ever used with it, to run my BBS, was an Apple modem, which had speeds of 300 baud to 1200 baud, as I recall.
You've come a long way, baby! :)

The first Mac I used was a 512K "Fat Mac". The first one I owned for myself was a 1MB SE with a 20 MB hard drive. I quickly upgraded it to 4 MB of RAM and a 40 MB expertnal drive for a huge performance boost. Of course, those numbers seem ludicrous today, but in 1989-90, they were a revolution.

Oct. 2005 rev 15" AlPB G4.
My son won an old Mac , his first computer, from his school for perfect attendance a couple years ago. I forgot which model it was but it had OS 7 installed. Now the school is giving away 2.4 Ghz White Macbooks for perfect attendance to one student via a drawing.

Macintosh SE/30 still have original box and System Disks.
Now contains awesomely huge 40MB HD that's about four times
faster than the floppy, it's populated with 4Mb RAM!!! :D
OK...
but that was a lot of space and memory back then!

It was the original "Bondi Blue" iMac G3. It still had the stock standard specs from its release in 1998. I bought it used from a friend back in 2003 for $50. It was a good little machine and managed to run Mac OS X 10.1 quite well. I must say that little iMac did start my love affair with mac :)

My first Apple was an Apple IIc- with the tiny monochrome black/green monitor. The first Mac I ever owned was an original LC. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I switched from the IIc to the LC!
