I was all ways against Apple Mac till about a year ago when a mate got me to use his.

Now I have seen the light and love the Mac and hate PC's.

I ended up starting out with a macbook air which was great, Now I have a macbook pro, Imac and Iphone.

A macbook air! its great i love macs so much more than PCs :apple: and i will never buy a a PC agin !hahahaha but their so freekin expensive! the macbook air onl has 1 usb port and an external disk drive so i would not suggest it if you are going to be using the disk drive all of the time. and with the one usb i just bought a hub for 20 bucks no big deal but oveer all it is incredibly thin!::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::ap ple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::)

I just purchased my first Mac as a Christmas gift to myself.

I've been thinking of buying a Mac for a few years but just never pulled the trigger until now.

The last time I used a Mac was my freshman year in college in the English Dept. computer lab (1988). Since then, I've always owned or used Windows based machines (home and work).

I still have a PC (XP Pro) which my kids use and my wife has a laptop running Vista, but I made the decision to buy and use a Mac. If it works out well, it won't be my last and may buy an iMac for the house when the PC needs to be replaced.

researched and waited and waited and my g/f finally decided she loved me enough to drop $2000+ on this one for an early christmas present :D

15" MBP w/ all the bells 'n whistles 'cept for SSD which will just be added once the prices drop.

So far so good, absolutely loving it.

I first became aware of Apple in the Apple II days in the late 70's. I was looking at a lot of brands of this new "hobby" machine back then (DEC Rainbow, etc). But I wasn't impressed with command line interfaces, so I didn't buy anything for several years. Then along came the Apple Lisa in 1983 with the Xerox PARC GUI. Wow! But at 10 grand I couldn't touch it!

SuperBowl 1984 and the "Big Brother" Mac commercial. Then it was revealed. Now, THIS was more like it! So I waited for the second model and in the fall of 1984 I bought my first MAC, the MAC 512K or "Fat Mac". So glad I did! As a result, I've never been to the 'dark side'---no need to!

I bought an Apple IIc in 1981 or 82. (128K)
Commodore 64 was the other computer out there.
Salesman told me, "128 K is all you'll EVER need."
I laughed then.... to this day whenever a member of my family hears some bogus pitch someone will say "128 K is all you'll EVER need." :D

iBook G4, Worst mac ever. A Big, Slow, Ugly brick.
Then MacBook Pro... Also one of the worst macs.

Also how do you now say a group of iBooks? You could be saying that you have 5 iBooks when you mean books on iBooks or you could be saying you have 5 iBook Computers?

The first Macs I used was an Apple II, I think. It was a little thing with a black and white screen. I used to love playing with MacDraw. These were so
e kind of hand me down computers I used in high school.

It took me many more years to afford my first Mac, but I bought one of the first iBooks when they came out. I remember everyone hating on it saying it looked like a giant Chiclet, but I was in love. Later I bought another iBook when I lived in Japan complete with Japanese keyboard. I still use it to this day despite it being over 6 years old. I bought an iMac 3 years ago, but recently sold it to my Dad when his PC crashed and burned.

Truth be told I need to upgrade. I'm just a little bummed that the iPad isn't a stand alone device. Apple please make a pro version in the near future.

Believe it was 1995-96 I ordered the Top of the line Power Computing - Apple Clone as my first computer. I had been studying Apple via magazines and reviews for some years. Power Computing had the top reviews of all PC
s at the time. It was a super nice rig for the time. At that time Apple was kinda in Limbo - So I dropped about 8 thousand bucks for the Power Computing rig. running Mac OS 7.5 I believe. Spent thousands on software - Photoshop 4 .... Bryce 1 ...etc. Not even a year after I had the Power Computing - Steve Jobs came back and sent a notice that their would be no more support of the clones. Blew me away - Super Bummer. - After I sold it for a few grand I bought a Power Book - then on to Power Macs and iMacs ...... etc.

My first Mac is actually the one that I am typing on right now. It is a 1.07 Ghz G4 iBook. I got it in early 2004. Lasted me 6 years, and I still find that it is more than adequate for surfing and basic applications. Gotta love that! The only upgrades I've done are 160 GB hdd and upped ram to 1.25 GB. I had a powerbook G4 that I got for helping someone install a program on their mac. It needed a new logic board, so I just sold it on CL.

My first Apple computer was a 17" white Intel iMac (2006). Switching to Mac was the best thing I've ever done! Now I have a 13" MacBook Pro (late 2009) and I gave the iMac to my dad. It was also his first Mac after all those years with a PC. After a few hours playing with it, he said: "It works so easy. Everything works so much faster than the PC (with even better specs)." Another happy Mac-user! ;)

I left the dark side 379 days ago. My HP "20 core, zillion GB ram, liquid cooled" super pizaz PC crashed three times in 20 minutes. I remained calm, hooked up the external hard drive, backed up, disconnected everything and carefully placed the PC in the large trash can outside. I then walked next door and gave our neighbors son my Gateway Tablet, his sister got my wifes' Sony Viao. I got in the car and drove 40 miles to the Apple Store in Nashville. I had never touched a Mac/apple product. In about two hours I bought an iMac 24" (my first Mac), a Macbook Air, 13" Aluminum Macbook, time Capsule, Apple TV, two iPhones and a Mac for dummies book. Since then 2 3GS phones, a wifi iPad, and tomorrow the 3G iPad arrives.

This is true and now I'll tell you why I was willing to spend the money. Those three crashes above occurred while I was working on a project for a client, a project with a penalty based deadline. That penalty cost me $4800. I have never regretted a dollar of what I spent that day (except the next month when the Amex bill came in).

The MBP I'm using right now. I'm NEVER going back to Windows for a primary computer again. But I will have to get a PC in the future, as I plan to be an engineer and AutoCAD still isn't available for OS X. But oh well, details :)
