I work in the telecom sector and looking for a way to use my iPad to interface with my equipment via a telnet or browser session. This would greatly reduce the weight and complexity of my tool kit.

My question: does anyone know if the iPad (3rd Generation in my case) supports the use of a USB-Ethernet dongle? Is there a jailbreak tweak perhaps?

Thanks to anyone and everyone who can help.

Get a portable WiFi router (http://amzn.to/160omg2).

The new version is the ASUS WL-330NUL:

Looks like a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, but is actually a WiFi router that just uses USB for power.

Thanks, looks interesting. Do you currently use this with your iDevice? I want to be sure I won't get an error message from my iPad before I shell out $45. I also want to make sure the iPad can provide enough power to run this. More research is needed I guess. Thanks again.

Update: I found the Asus press release states it supports iOS, so I guess that answers my question. I'll give it a try when it becomes available on Amazon.
