I need to buy a hard drive so I can back up my 160gb internal HD, my 120gb external hard drive and possibly another 250gb internal HD. I'm was planning on buying a 500gb external drive for backup, which should be enough since I keep 30gb free on my internal drive that runs the OS. I've been touring for 6 months and just returned to home and internet access, so I'm out of the loop. Any suggestions for a good external hard drive? I saw an ad in MacWorld for a 500gb drive from OWC for $379. Is this a good deal, or would I be better suited buying a Lacie drive?

Only joking, of course. ;)
As fo reality, the Seagate stuff isn't too bad.

I know it can be bought for around £185 in the UK, don't know if that's expensive but that's what I paid for my 400 Gb one.

I have the 500G LaCie d2 Big Disk and love it. The nice thing is that it is tripple interface, so I can plug0in to just about anything. Also, it requires no drivers, just plug and play.
