I do so love my air, thos she isn't the fastest and the 2GB is a bit limiting.

I really would like to use the Air as my main 'puter so I think maybe if I save up some I might get a trade for a 4GB one.

Here is the question - when did the 13" Air have a 4GB Ram option? thats likely to be the most cost effective one to aim for (in the used market).

obviously I'd prefer a shiney iCore series but the core2duo isn't too shabby and I can wait a few seconds for word/photoshop etc to do stuff.

what can the spec heads tell me to look for on this one?

thanks guys n gals

Open this (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook-air/index-macbook-air.html) site and click the "EXPAND EVERY SYSTEM" text and browse down to the 2011 models to see, which came with 4 GB as standard.

and an update looking at 2011 models results in some 4GB/128 models for the 650 mark - might be back in the game here.......

If you're still here there's currently a 2012 13" 4/128 on for 510 finishing in 4hrs. If I had the money I'd bid but I don't so can't. Seller has 100% feedback too.

Do YOURSELF a favor, Get the 2011 if you are going to spend the $

Coming from someone who has both 2010 and 2011

The backlit keyboard, i5 processor, and HD3000 are sooooooo worth it compared to the 2010 C2D with no backlit keyboard. I bought my gf the 2010, then myself a 2011 6 months later, she's been envious of my backlit keyboard and still gives me crap for not having one almost 2 years later.

You should be able to fetch a 13" 2011 4GB 128GB MBA for $800 with a little patience.

Ok, so the good news is, used Macs hold their value. Great if you are selling, sucky if you are buying...

I would also recommend the 2011 model, or later (depending on your budget). I have heard there is an issue with the NVidia 320M GPU in the 2010 model, so the 2011 would be the best bet.

I have sourced a 2011 model :) can't wait. If its anywhere nears as awesome as this 2008 basic one, but with faster CPU, graphics and SSD then I will be in heaven !

the HD3000 should be ample for playing videos, the SSD and 4GB Ram means I will be able to run all my day to day apps - all from the comfort of my bed or beanbag (depending how annoying the nerve damage in my arm/shoulder is).

Cant wait - should have in my paws by the end of March :)

Looks like Alice will be having a new home also - time to teach my nephew that computers don't have to be as annoying as Windows :)

(actually my plan is to teach him to use and appreciate multiple OS's - give him the grounding for the future and let him make up his own mind as to which suits his growing needs as he gets older).

(am pretty sure he will go mac as he has an iPad and loves all the cool things I show him that my setup can do).

Yep thats actually a BIG factor - I hadn't realised the 2010 models dont have a backlit - I would HATE to lose that. being as I spend a lot of time on my air at night, its a godsend.

People nitpicked the 2011 model, saying it didn't display graphics as fast as the 2010 model, but the 2011 model still played Skyrim without missing a beat...that's how I judge graphics!
