14400 kbps modem... USR Mac&Fax... The future is here! Or there...

about the built-in modem in the PBook... It works in MacOsX only... Is this another Apple smart move to make everyone use X?

I'm enjoying the best currently available here in the UK, Telewest Blueyonders Cable service - 1024k down/256k up.

I'm with Madea, I have Comcast Cable, good speed, no limitations. However, the maybe merger with AT&T makes me worry about speed decrease.

And yeah, the TV sucks, watching local afilliates is a painful experience, so much so that I switch to Antenna to watch the Simpsons

Earthlink Cable Modem through Time Warner Cable; Typically 120-180 KB/s downloads, even on my iBook through AirPort. Although, only Chimera and Netscape take advantage of it, IE usually tops out at 85KB. Weird, ha? And Limewire may not be perfect... but sometimes I get 180+ KB downloads from T1 or Cable Modem users. Sweeeet. Only trouble is... Time Warner Cable now has a broadband junkie! I need that fix! Could NEVER go back to 56k dial-up... although I would have to buy an external modem for my G4, and that's my excuse to keep paying 39 smackers a month.

AMEN to that!!;)

Yeah, Earthlink cable has treated me very well the last few months. What can I say, I'm HOOKED! I can't believe I used to sit in front of the computer that long to open up a web page. It really is addicting...

For personal use-

Mediacom Cable 1.5Mbps down 128Kbps up.

For our website-

Verizon DSL 768Kbps down 384kbps up.

I would give you guys the link but the site is brand new and practically non-existant.

Well, fine...... (http://www.sveltegeek.com)

We purchased the site less than a week ago. It's running on a RedHat 7.3 pc. The only page we have will not be there for long, sort of an 'Under Construction' thing.

I also forgot to mention that it ends up saving me $$ by having cable over dial-up. I pay $40 for Earthlink cable. Before, I was on AOL dial-up for $23 plus $.10 per dial-up call. I was paying close to $60 with dial up, versus $40 for MUCH BETTER cable modem. I can't complain:D

Time Warner Columbus (RoadRunner). Its odd to see AOLTW competing w/ itself with AOL highspeed broadband. One thing I don't get is my horrid d/l u/l speeds. I use a LinkSys router, and even though no one else is using the network right now, i cant u/l faster than 45k/sec :\

EDIT: i just benchmarked my speeds w/ and w/o the router, and they were in average 357k/sec upload and above 2 megabits a second d/l for both tests. WTF? perhaps this is the truth of "peak usage for cable"

T3 on campus LAN, 33k on campus dial-up....56k on Earthlink dialup. Glad to hear some good reviews on Earthlink cable because I'm trying to convince my parents to switch to it.

got my T1 over here on campus, speeds vary, as it seems they need to upgrade some of their equipment... oh well, it's pretty nice most of the time
