Dumb webcam question.... [Archive]

Can I use Ichat with any USB webcam that is compatible with Mac? Or do I HAVE to use isight?

Can someone recommend a good cam with a mic and possibly a light that doesn't cost an arm and a leg like the Isight...

iChat only natively uses the iSight or a DV video camera. However, iChatUSBCam (http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/) will let you use a fairly long list of USB cameras. I don't personally use any video chat cameras, so I don't have an opinion on them. See the web site for more info.

I use my iSight, but for a while I used my Logitech Pro via iChatUSBCam. Worked great - highly recommended.
