On my computer, I always put the computer to sleep before I plug in headphones.

I had a problem before where after plugging my headphones in many many times, that I'd hear distortion every time the plug in the jack moved, even very slightly.

Has anyone had a problem with their jack producing distortion after plugging in many times without turning their phone off?

Putting a computer to sleep and back on only requires a couple of seconds; turning the phone on and off takes significantly longer.

No problems. I have not turned off my phone since I got it October 1st. Rebooted, yes, turned off, no.

Not sure what one has to do with the other. Mini jacks are susceptible to noise if bumped. They're just not that robust in general. I've never had problems with mine but that doesn't really mean anything. Others certainly have.
