Apple's Retina MacBook Pro and MacBook Airs from 2012 on incorporate the thinner MagSafe 2 power port (http://www.macrumors.com/2012/06/11/retina-display-macbook-pro-includes-thinner-magsafe-2-power-port/), requiring the use of a small MagSafe to MagSafe 2 Converter (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD504ZM/A/magsafe-to-magsafe-2-converter) in order to use the computers with older power adapters.

The MagSafe Adapter Key Ring (http://www.shapeways.com/model/956722/magsafe-adapter-key-ring.html?li=productBox-search) is designed to prevent the loss of the MagSafe Converter by connecting it to a set of keys. Printed from stainless steel, the Key Ring attaches to the Converter using its internal magnet. We asked the creator, Jonathan Bobrow (http://www.shapeways.com/model/956722/magsafe-adapter-key-ring.html?li=productBox-search), about the strength of the magnetic hold:It holds very well. I have been wearing it on my exposed keychain (carabiner) around NYC through crowds and subways and have not had an issue. The magnet is shockingly strong and really relies on the torque of the cable to get loose (i.e if you pull the cable straight, you can still knock your laptop to the ground). The MagSafe Adapter Key Ring is available from Shapeways (http://www.shapeways.com/model/956722/magsafe-adapter-key-ring.html?li=productBox-search) and is priced at $15.00.

Amazing.. I literally was just saying to myself yesterday "I wish Apple put a hole in this so I could attach it to something and not lose it!"

Was thinking about doing this for the Digital AV Adapter (whilst also making the Digital AV Adapter shorter).

Nice idea. I'll pass on the carabiner though - probably not much call for mountain climbing equipment in NYC.

And there was me thinking that leaving it connected to the MagSafe 2 was all that was necessary...

...Nope, still thinking that.

Maybe when multiple people/multiple computers use the same cord such as myself... Quit thinking, you'll hurt yourself!

I use this same concept with my lightning to 30-pin adapter. Using this keychain (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052PGJ30/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

I was thinking the same thing--I usually put it on the end of a USB cord or something though :)

They should have found a attractive way to put it on our iPhones. We never lose our phones, right?;)

It's not quite the iPhone, but I suppose the "loop" is good for something (http://www.apple.com/ipod-touch/features/#loop-gallery)!

How has no one said anything about the price? It's cool, but definitely not $15 cool.

$15 is fine... I've already lost 2 converters. I'm always accepting of anyone who calls me an idiot for losing 2, but man they are tiiiiny

not sure if that magnet is really strong enough the prevent it from falling of when I put my key chain multiple times a day in and out of my tight jeans pockets ....

those carabiner's scare me. I bought one from eastern mountain sports to use as a keychain. it was in the middle of winter and i was playing with it and it snapped in half. The actual aluminum snapped. i was like wtf man. i dont know if it was from the cold or was defective or what. I didnt even put much pressure on it. its suppose to hold body weight. Thats what they use for mountain climbing? screw that..what are the chances that could happen again.

I already have buckets of adapters, converters etc.

However I am a serious climber and can always use more carabiners.

That's because you probably bought a novelty carabiner.

This one's legit:

I have a "kitchen/living room Macbook Air" and then my main Macbook Pro, that I also use on the main level sometimes. Really I just want Apple to make it attachable to the power cord, that's where I need it. Not on my keychain or on travels where I have my whole bag with me anyway...

hockey tape doesn't look very pretty

Might not be pretty, but it works.

If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid.

I actually ran into an issue yesterday where I forgot my power cord for my MBPr at home and I was stuck at work. I haven't bought an adapter yet because I naively asked myself, "I have the charger. Why would I ever[I] need an adapter for my only charger?" I found myself at work wishing I had one with me so that I could borrow someone's MagSafe 1 power cord. Now I'm getting an adapter and one of these keychains so that I always have one on me.

$15 seems a bit expensive, seems like it should cost $5, but maybe everyone thinks Apple users pay a lot for their computers, so it's fine to rip them off?

attaches to my keys... which go in my pocket, next to my credit cards. Hmm, strong magnet, credit cards?

this has vintage vibe, holds both magsafe and lighting>30pin adapters, and costs about 65% less (including shipping!).
