I have been reading all I can, and I am lost now.
I was forced to rebuild my laptop, and I have a fresh install
and now I am trying to log on my Scottrade account and it is not permitting me, due to the incorrect version of Java

I installed jre-7u17-macosx-x64.dmg and then I went to http://javatester.org/version.html

https://www.peernavigator.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/javaVersion.png

For it does say that my Java is up todate. WHY CAN'T ORACLE AND APPLE WORK TOGETHER. And have Java
Be part of the Software Update. This is a pure mess that Apple has created when they gave up Java.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Now my Scottrade account is saying that my Java is outdated. And it is clear that it is not outdated. So, what can I do now???

Scottrader Streaming Quotes requires that Java 1.6.0_13 or higher be installed on your computer. We are unable to validate that your system meets this minimum requirement. Please use the Software Update feature on your computer to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Java or visit the Knowledge Center for more information.

I'm a rolling stone.
Ah, Java again, what a mess, don't get it why some sites need this to log on to an account, this of course for end Users, not for "professionals"
There are even Banks like in Norway I think who uses this, WTF, if Java does not work, for instance when Apple blocks it, you can't access your bank account.
Get rid of this crap for end Users.

Would like to know too what was the problem was.
