Anyone watching Congratulations ... the 50 Year anniversary of Eurovision Song Contest?
Who are you voting/cheering for? I'm hoping for number 09, the old French song Poupée de cire, poupée de son. Either that one or Dana International.

Nope, the BBC didn't buy it despite them showing the Eurovision each year. Perhaps Terry Wogan was on holiday...

Too bad, that probably means I'll be kind of lonely in this thread as most of the Europeans here are from the U.K.

None of my favourites made it to the 5 song super final. :(

I prefer season 4 of Futurama, over anything Eurovision Song Contest related... ;)
So who's winning...?

So who's winning...? :rolleyes:Considering that the BBC have decided not to screen it, I'd say the entire population of Great Britain are the winners tonight... :D

I'll go out on a limb and say that Abba will win...

What happened to the pride of Denmark - Fly on the Wings of Love... I read it got a wildcard... but I guess the European public didn't really like it anyway.
Anyone else remember where the were when they heard Fly on the Wings of Love had won?
I was in Heathrow Airport. It was such a bright moment in my life. I'll never forget.

We didn't get to see how many points or votes the different songs got. Fly on the Wings of Love were among the 14 candidates, but it didn't make it to the super finale.
They're about to announce the winner ... it is ... Waterloo by ABBA. Good guess, Applespider.

I'm not sure whether to be proud or scared that I got it right...
I'm not sure why the Brits take it all so much less seriously than the rest of Europe seems to. I remember being in Germany a few times when it was on; one year nearly all the pubs in the Altstadt in Düsseldorf were showing it, another year, the German entry was on just as the football game we were at was finishing so they put it on the big screen. No-one left, they all just stayed and sang along!

I belive the rest of europe are not necessarily serious about it just 'cause they're watching. The people in the flat above my right now fx have had a little eurovision party tonight, and they don't sound serious at all at this point. And neither does the music they're listening to :D

Surprisingly enough, I remember Cliff Richard (in more ways than one)
