How do you convert a .wmv file for the ipod?

There may be another way to do this, but I bought Flip 4 Mac and it imports .wmv's into quicktime to watch them. I bought the studio version so that I can export them from quicktime too. I spent 100 bucks for the studio version but as an editor I needed it so that I can export wmv files for clients.

I tried to use that before I got Flip 4 Mac, I never got it to work, but it probably would get the job done.

Isn't the $10 version just allow you to watch wmv in QuickTime?

Or can you convert to iPod if you have QuickTime Pro?

I was actually trying to do the same thing...change a wmv file to something i can add to the ipod and QT pro didnt help. I actually found some software called Xilisoft Video Converter and it did it and quick as well! It's worth a try:D

Hmm, version 1.0.1 allowed you to export, but they seem to have disabled this in 1.0.2 (to make you buy the more expensive version?)

I used the flip4mac for a video to convert a wmv into a mp4 and as the movie progresses the video and the audio loose sync so it's a few seconds different. Why did this happen and is there a way to fix it?

Why did it mess up then?

I looked into it a bit more and it seems that even when simply just playing the wmv file in quicktime using the flip2mac and i go to the end of the movie the audio is messed up. Why is this and can it be corrected?

You're on a Mac forum... PC only software doesn't usually help very much.

If you buy Flip4Mac and you open a wmv file say a sample song from Barnes and Noble's website will it just open QT or will it give some sort of message?

I guess I just want to know if it makes everything seamless like it would be if it was made for QT.

You can set it either way. Sometimes the stuff doesn't seem to load correctly for me in Quicktime and I have to use WMP. I figure with updates it will continue to improve in this area, but it works for almost everything else fine for me.

To answer the OP's question, here are two excellent programs that have worked for me:

iSquint (http://www.isquint.org/) (free)
MoviePod (http://www.nullriver.com/index/products/moviepod) (shareware, $10)

iSquint seems to require the Flip4Mac plugin. I have the one that allows you to watch .wmv files and it will not let me convert the files. It starts and says "Flip4Mac Plugin Detected" and then I get an error message.
