I have a feeling the iPods come pre-calibrated and then fully charged although they may have lost some charge depending on how long ago they left the factory. It's not necessary but charge the thing right up again and completely discharge if it makes you feel better. It may do some good in the long term, but I doubt it. :)

You COULD play a video for 2 or 3 hours. That'll kill it.

The way I usually drain my iPod's battery is to turn on the backlight to full power, set it on shuffle mode, and let it play before I go to school. By the time I get back, it's done. (It's an old iPod, ok? No battery of gold, h'ok?)
Then, charge it all the way up overnight, and BAM! Much the calibrated battery. :)

Nah, you don't have to drain it first. Charge it up, then drain it. I really don't think it's necessary though.

Got an iTrip? Just leaving it playing with the backlight and maybe a slide show should be enough. It'll take a while though. :)
