Hi again,

I have a 500MHz Titanium PowerBook that I'm looking to sell. The catch: it doesn't work, and doesn't have RAM or a hard drive (transferred to a new machine). The casing is, as you can see from the attached photos, in the great shape; if you're a handyman (well, I guess I should say handyperson) it could be fixable. Message me if you're interested!

Cheers,
Bill

I think there's a short somewhere inside; however, because I can't pinpoint the problem, I don't want to say definitely and risk misleading you. And as far as price is concerned, I'm currently open to offers.

Cheers,
Bill

Really looking for a monetary offer, hopefully in the ballpark of $150-200 (I'm saving up for a big trip in December!). Thanks again guys,

Bill

Seeing as this machine IS "broken" you might wanna drop the price a bit...

maybe people will have a better understanding of what to offer if you tell us what is wrong with the laptop(to the best of your knowledge)
does it turn on at all?
is something broken?
does the screen ligt up?

Absolutely. It all began on a hot summer night, 3 months, 4 days, and 15 hours ago, when my 500MHz TiBook, my primary machine, my first Mac, gave up the ghost. (Really, I don’t know exactly how long ago—I think it was about 3 months, may have been as much as 3 1/2). After pressing the power button it would not boot—no sounds, no signs of life.

Now up to this point, this had been a fantastic machine. The screen was crisp and expansive, the CPU eager despite its meager clock speed, and the operating system, a fierce Tiger, poised to pounce with each tap upon the metallic track pad.

But that morning, when it would not boot, everything changed, and this once loyal companion now sat cold and rigid before me.

I believe, and this is simply my educated guess, that the machine’s ailment stems from a short somewhere inside, probably concentrated in the left-hand screen hinge; I say this because there's a small crack in the plastic casing and it's possible that this fissure, as the laptop was hauled to and from college, opened, severing some precious connection within.

As soon as it stopped working, I brought my fallen friend to the college’s finest IT doctors who responded with an inconclusive diagnosis: the components appeared to be functional, but something electrical, perhaps a short, preventing the machine from booting or even outputting video to an external monitor.

After a great deal of scavenging, I found my current machine, a tattered Ti667 loaner, into which I transported my hard drive and RAM in hopes of recreating my grieved RevA (you must understand, this was a tragic scene: my first Mac had died; I knew this day would come, but alas, never so soon).

Now, after allowing its cold, silent case to collect several months of dust, I've decided that, in lieu of a [costly] trip to Europe in December, I ought to relinquish it to someone who might, through some fantastic talent and generosity, necessitate it, and throw a few dollars my way.

Well I hope that helps. Apologies if my narrative became a bit epic—I simply couldn’t resist (English major).

Cheers,
Bill

We got over $200 for our dead Rev. A, no hard-drive, 512MB and working screen. Good luck!
