I am almost 100% sure they wont. Devs will have to change their icon for every single app on the app store? No way

My guess not being a tech head is that iOS 7 will compliment the phone or tablet hardware functionality i.e. using the iPhones and IPads graphics to illuminate icons on the homescteen that one possibility from the above picture.

And making them backwards compatible with iOS 6- is going to be pain.

The "XIII" in the logo makes me think they're revealing something with watches, since Roman numerals are oft used on analog clocks.

Its the same type of pattern an icon would make while in 'move' or 'change' mode. If you press and hold an icon is shakes, if you look closely its almost as if the WWDC logo mimics that behavior. I guess that is a hint to 'we're changing things up'.

We haven't seen any relation to previous years WWDC logos and what's been in iOS 5, 6. So, doubt if it will tell us anything that's in iOS 7.

That said, because it's so different, it may give us a hint to expect something totally different in UI terms (which I think we do already expect!).

I really doubt it'll look anything like that. They will likely remove the gloss overlay effect from the icons consistently and continue with very subtle gradients.

I'm not sure why some of the default apps have the overlay and some don't.

Tell that to the Super Bowl people. Do schools even waste time teaching Roman numerals? Teaching them how to convert to and from binary, hexadecimal and decimal will help kids so much more unless they work at Caesar's Palace. :D

Cook said something along the lines of with iOS 7 everything would be centralized or something along those lines.

It started to make sense afterwards when putting it all together from the other things i have read, along with the icon for this years WWDC

"Centralized"

They are going to have a one click access to all Apple apps/Built in apps that come with the phone. You can imagine hitting one icon and once pressed it branches out like a spyder web(not a folder) somewhat and your built in apps are there. This would be a centralized layout for the standard apps. Somehow they would make it "cool" or "magical" and it won't be just a shortcut to apps, maybe something else when it branches out

I think this is whats going to happen...

Apple won't clutter up their real estate with widgets; I really don't see that happening, not at all. Widgets are too distracting... too much "visual noise".
