No I don't, everything I have is bought from the app store or a website. The Twitter for Mac is a free app.

Seems you are not the only one having this problem.

Solution that worked for me:

Question:
Do you have the app Transmit installed? Delete the _MASReceipt folder embedded in it.

Answer (yes)
well i cant find this folder _MASReceipt anywhere on my mac even when showing hidden folders ! anyone for holding my hand ?

Solution
Right-click on Transmit and click "show package contents".
I just found out that deleting the folder may render Transmit inoperable, so make a back up of it before you delete the MASReceipt folder.

Problem solved
