What Leopard install disc you're using? OEM or retail one? First is no-go without some tweaks. You should use second one.

Leopard Restore discs will still be able to boot any Leopard compatiable machine. It's the installer that will refuse to do anything. But you can still use Disk Utility.

I can not log into the system crashed operating system
