I have a MDD G4 DP 1.25 GH. I only notice that the time and or date are incorrect after a shutdown. I don't have any startup problems. I replaced the battery and the problem continued. Since I seldom shutdown- it usually sleeps- the G4 the time and date remain correct. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

How incorrect is it? Computers are known not to keep good time. If you're on broadband, or DSL, you can have Apple keep the time up to date. Go to the Date/Time System Preference, check the box that says set date and time automatically.
Other than that, did you try resetting the PRAM?

Its way off both date and time. It acts like the battery is dead. Even though I jest replaced it.

The G4 gets its time settings from an Apple time server. I'll check the system preferences to be sure and put a multimeter on the battery to see if the replacement is dead. I have to put a USB2/Fire wire PCI card in this weekend.
I'll report in on Monday.
thanks to all

The new battery could indeed be a dude. Also you might want to try a Zappage of the PRAM.
