Hi all

I've got myself a LEDTV that I would like to use on my old G4 MDD I have it connected from the DVI of the mac to the HDMI on the LEDTV
When the mac loads it shows some odd screen, and when it's Loaded in OSX 10.5.8 the resolution is all odd anyone have any ideas how I can fix this

On the right pic it looks like you have a split screen feature turned on on the TV. Can you check the TV manual?

The fact that it's "LEDTV", or LED backlit, has no effect on your problem. It's just the backlight. What is the resolution of this TV?

Most likely the tv has a resolution not supported by OS X 10.5.

But, you could go into Display preferences first on in OS X and change the resolution there, see what happens.

@MrPilot the TV does not have a split screen feature, there is no mention of this in the manual, it looks like its split screen but its just some odd thing thats happening

@lucasfer899 the max reolution of the TV is 1920x1080

@justperry osx 10.5.8 and 10.4.11 both pick up the resolution of 1920x1080
once it has loaded up I can change the resolution from 1920x1080 to say 1920x1050 and it works well and I can change it back to 1920x1080 and works well up untill I restart the computer or shut it down.
When it loads up again I get them odd screens again.

Does it happen in both 10.4.11 and 10.5.8,if this is the case it is not the OS causing this.
Thought about PRAM reset but probably would do nothing.

Don't think you can do much more than that, except maybe a different way to connect both.

justperry It happens on both 10.5.8 and 10.4.11 now here is something else that is odd sometimes in 10.4.11 it loads up fine, im not sure why
I have tried the pram reset but it did nothing also 10.5.8 is a fresh install

Don't think it is the OS, reason it does this in both OS X versions, if one was OK all the time and not the other it is the OS.

I am thinking about the cable or HW

I'll look in to getting a new cable and see what happens, I might also try getting dvi to vga as the tv also supports this.
thanks for all of your help :)

The second option might be a better one since you already tried the first.

DVI to VGA should be a cheap adapter.

Don't know, maybe bad connectors, protocols in between OS X - Mac - TV, cabling.
Try fiddling with setting on the TV if it happens again.
