I'm using an iPhone 5 with all updates applied and today while I was sending an iMessage suddenly contact names were missing for some messages in my messages back. A quick search in contacts resulted no names! I have 700 odd contacts and now it shows only 500 odd. My mail and contacts are synced to gmail. I'm traveling now currently and don't have access to my laptop. Anyway I can restore only contacts back to the phone?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.!

You're going to need to check at gmail.com on a desktop browser to see what's gong on with your contacts. You can do it from your phone by downloading the "Puffin" free browser and setting the user agent to "Desktop".
