A majority of Norwegians support a new law that makes same sex marriage legally equal to heterosexual marriage in all areas. I'm so happy about this, because if I remember correctly most advances in gay rights here have historically been made by the government without the support of a majority of the population.
We already have civil unions, and that's great, but it doesn't protect children's rights if their parents are a same sex couple. Also, because same sex couples can't adopt, some children who need foster parents are deprived of the opportunity to grow up in a loving, caring and resourceful family.
