My Pismo 400mhz workhorse goes to sleep when idle for a short time and won't wake up. The screen just freezes and the curser arrow is not visible. Sometimes playing with the keys wakes it up, most times I have to push the power button and restart.

I have upgraded the RAM to 1GB and the two memory modules are not a matched pair, but both are recognized and counted up by the OSX Panther I am using.

Any ideas? I have sleep mode turned off in the software.

internal battery?

Hi,

I had similar problems with a Lombard but it would also periodically have difficulty starting up (I'd just get a blank screen).

There were two things that came up as probable causes: bad cache RAM or the internal battery going flat. I also tried zapping the PRAM.

Unfortunately I decided this was an unreasonably expensive things to fix so I've decided to retire it instead - I'm sad as it's been a great machine for 6 years!

HTH,

best wishes, Rog.
