Okay, here I go.

I want to get an icon image into an AppleWorks Drawing document, BUT, each time I drag the tiff, PNG, icn etc file (By copying it and pasting from Preview) it always has a black background, I want that to be transperant.

I think you can do it in photoshop but I do not have that on my computer, currently.

I hope this is possible, if not, I bid you good bye.

I bid you to stay and not use Preview, as well as accept this late reply. :)

If you know where the image is on your computer, you can insert it. In your Appleworks File menu, go to "Insert...". Within the pop-up, scroll to File Format and select "All Available". Double click the file you want. It's in the document.

If the file is still black, possibly the file itself has a problem. So if the issue does in fact still occur, and you want to confirm that with the image, repeat the process with Appleworks using an image you got from somewhere else. If you don't get a black, then it's the image.
