I know this isn't really a great place to put this question, but I wasn't sure where else would be a good place.

Around a year ago, google changes something with their code that so that after gmail loads, it automatically "grabs focus" (not sure the technical term for this), even if you're viewing a different tab.

For example, I have a group of 5 tabs in Safari that are collectively my "home page." However, gmail often takes awhile to load everything, and I often don't want to click on it first. So I usually start reading on another tab, but then gmail takes control and automatically makes its own tab the active one.

I find this incredibly annoying, but I haven't been able to find much about it on the web. I've searched a few times in the last year, but haven't found any chatter about it, so I figured I'd ask around on here.

Is there any way to block this annoying behavior?
