to the OP: "American Idiot" isn't on there?
edit: right now it's "Sugar We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy but it changes all the time depending on my mood (yeah, i know...) a few days ago it was "So Cruel" by U2. if i had to pick an all-time favorite song it'd probably be "So Cruel."
"and you need her like a drug..."

This just came to my mind and I've already started seeing holiday stuff at stores, so I'd say the Mannheim Steamroller version of Carol of the Bells. And I also really like a lot of the songs that have already been mentioned.

Just listened to it in iTunes ... the words are meaningful and the melody is soothing. Another gem courtesy of the Beatles, no surprise there.

dont know if this has been done before but i think it will be a good way for people to discover new music...There's always the What's your favorite artist and song-thread. ;)

But if you want more than 1, here's my Top 10 (alphabetically by artist):

- "The Guns of Brixton" by The Clash (http://www.dailytunes.com/songs/20050602172946.html)
- "Edie (Ciao Baby)" by The Cult (http://www.dailytunes.com/songs/20050601203249.html)
- "Det er ikke sant" by Elektrisk Regn (Norwegian, as you might guess)
- "The Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden (http://www.dailytunes.com/songs/20050603010033.html)
- "Kayleigh" by Marillion
- "Great Expectations" or "Ballad of Bodmin Pill" by New Model Army (I cannot decide between them right now :o)
- "Where the Wild Roses Grow" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds + Kylie Minogue (http://www.dailytunes.com/songs/20050601203429.html)
- "Comfortably Numb" (http://www.dailytunes.com/songs/20031027231023.html) or "Wish You Were Here" (http://www.dailytunes.com/songs/20031028084041.html) by Pink Floyd (again too hard to decide)
- "Ghost Town" by Specials (http://www.dailytunes.com/songs/20050312203107.html)
- "Strange Little Girl" by The Stranglers (http://www.dailytunes.com/songs/20050905232100.html)

(If you ask me again in 6 months of a year some might be replaced by other awesome songs, but I think most would remain...)

i hate doing things like this! my favourite songs change all the time, but there are a few songs that when you just listen to it for the first time in a while, you go wow, that was good!

oasis - wonderwall

battle - isabelle or feel the same, or even takayuka - this band is amazing and they will be big next year (well in the UK anyway - look them up on itms, really good)

the secret is not to play the song too often, then it would start to suck after the 30th play.

hence i never like any song that ever gets on the radio 1 playlist. you will hear it every 10 mins and it will just get annoying within a day!
