Hey guys,

I have a 4S and am trying to unlock the device through the ATT website. I got told to back up my iphone and then restore backup. Now, how do I know ALL my information is in my computer and how do I know where it is?

Thanks guys,

Best.

AFV:)

You can't, you have to rely on the OS/iTunes to tell you it is, there is no other way to verify if all your data is on the computer.

Edit: Your Data is in different places, Apps are in the iTunes Music Folder, other Data is in /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

I got it. Now, can I restore it and then take the back up to make the information available back into my device?

thanks

Now that you say this, I can't see the pictures when I click on the files under the "backed up" folder.

You can't see the pictures, it is just data you see.

Go back into iTunes, your iPhone will show up there, you can restore from within iTunes.

Right right, but what I mean is that once I click that "restore" button and the device starts being restored - will my iphone be now blank? If it will be blank then how do I get everything back in the device if it is blank.

After the restore finishes, iTunes will ask if you want to set up as new, or restore from backup. Pick restore from backup and find the backup of your 4S that you made before restoring. iTunes will do the rest. :)

Did you get the "Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked" message? If so, it's unlocked. :)

Nah man. After I pressed "restore from backup" it just continued restoring it but nothing else. The phone rebooted itself.

Any tips?

Sounds like you didn't restore, remember, in iTunes, click restore and let iTunes wipe your phone. Backup first.

"Restore" and "restore from backup" are two very different things. In the "summary" tab in iTunes there should be a restore and check for update button (IIRC). Click on restore and let iTunes WIPE YOUR PHONE.
