The challenge for Microsoft was brought home as its executives tried to demonstrate the products. For all Ozzie's talk about how "seamless" the experience would be, Microsoft Vice President Blake Irving was continually frustrated by lost connections in trying to demonstrate the new "live" technologies.

Not really an OS, more like an advanced portal. E-mail, IM (MSN), news and the like.

For kicks, I just tried it with Opera. That doesn't work either.

Doesn't work in IE for the Mac either. Firing up my Windows machine for the first time in a couple weeks so I can check it out just for fun.

Now I dont want to compare the two extensively or nothing, but its very interesting what Microsoft are doing at the moment with the whole Live thing. I just found out that amongst other things, they are doing Live bookmarks, similar to what Apple does with Safari bookmarks. They just bought out a company that specialises in file sharing too, perhaps to integrate into Office Live. Being able to access all your bookmarks and work files no matter where you are in the world is a nice touch.

Dont you think a free .Mac service would make Leopard extremely compelling? Perhaps offer paid services for larger online space. At the moment, it is a pretty service but far too expensive.
