I just bought a 4th Gen. iPod (Color screen) refurbished from Apple, and when I try to sync it with my music on my computer, iTunes transfers about 20 songs or so to the iPod before giving me this error message:

"Attempting to copy to the disk "My iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."

My last iPod was exactly the same model, and I had no problems like this. I have made sure that the firmware on the new iPod is up to date and have tried completely restoring it, but this doesn't help.

Any advice? Did my refurbished iPod come with a faulty hard drive? :(

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated...

It's sounding like a bad hard drive. If you're running OSX, use Disk Utility in your Utilities folder (funnily enough ;) ) to Verify Disk.

If Disk Utility says it's fine, then try using a different cable/port that you connect with. :)

Looks like it may be the port, as I plugged it into the back USB port of my G5 tower and it seems to be working well (before it was in the front port). Is there a difference between the front and back ports on the G5 towers? Has anyone else experienced this problem?
