Sometimes the sonngs will stop halfway throught the song, the ipod then requires a reset (holding the middle button plus the menu button). Has this ever happend to any of you? If so, what do you do about it? Just keep resetting?

How old is the iPod? It might be a failing hard drive. Are you using a PC or a Mac? If you have a Mac you could try using Disk Utility to repair the disk (assuming it's damaged).

On either OS, a software restore using iPod Software Updater may help things a little. :)

Its the new 5g video pod. Im using a pc. It has done this twice now. A reset seems to fix it for a while.

Is the iPod being jerked/moved around just prior to the freeze? These things are hard drive based and don't enjoy moving too much. If it's particularly susceptible to freezing then you may be eligible for a replacement. Talk to Apple if that's the case. :)

No its not... just random freezes.

i have no experiance/knowledge with this sort of thing, but is the HD clicking right before it freezes? meaning, is the ipod accessing the disk when the trouble happens? if so, it could be that 1) it's accessing corrupted data/files at that time or 2) there's a problem with the hard drive and that you might need to take it into apple. i'd recommend taking it to the store and/or setting up a genius appt...since its a 5G they probably won't hesitate to replace it, especially if you bought it less than 14 days ago...good luck!
