Hello, I tried to upgrade my iPhone 4S to ios 7 and I didn't know I needed to be apart of the developer program. I installed it and now during the activation it says I need to be part of the developer program. Now I can't reset my iPhone to downgrade, now I just have an iPhone I can't use. I don't know what to do, BTW my lock button is broken so anything using that won't work.

Can someone please help, any would be appreciated!!!

If your lock button is screwed, you're out of luck

as Goat said if the lock button doesnt work you can't do anything about it. Should have researched b4 jumping in sorry.

Why would you attempt to do something risky to your phone when it's broken and then ask for help. My friend there is no help for you.

My phone works fine apart from the lock button, it's hardly broken my friend. If I bought a licence would that fix the problem?

Lock- and home-button are required to go into DFU mode, only then you can downgrade back to iOS 6. License might work, but I'd rather spend that money to get the lock button fixed and downgrade. iOS 7 is not yet ready for every-day usage.

Thanks for the help, once I get it fixed will I just hold down lock and home buttons at the same time and then what?

Keep Home+Standby pressed for 10-15 seconds and you'll be in DFU mode. From there, you can restore iOS 6 with iTunes.

You don't have to go into DFU mode to downgrade, I did this with my iPhone 5 yesterday only using iTunes.

Thing is in iTunes it only says I have to become part of the developer program. I can't see my phone in iTunes to click restore.

Fixed using recboot to force it into DFU mode, allowed me to restore to ios 6. Thanks for the help and I'll research things further next time.

If I did this I'd be double screwed. Neither my home or lock screen buttons function properly...

Recboot work absolutely perfectly, no need to press any buttons on the phone at all; just press the enter DFU mode button. :)
