Like the title says. Wondering if anyone has checked to see if the new mail app will support push when used with GMail?

No it supports pulling all the contracts down now but still no push.

That's on Google, not Apple. They had push with Exchange, but turned that off a few months ago for new devices. They want you to use the Gmail app for push. People can complain all they want to Google, they're not going to change it. If you want push with Gmail your options are to use an app like Mailbox or Gmail, or pay Google $5/month for a business account. It's unfortunate.

Definately unfortunate. I would actually pay the $5 per month, but from my understanding you can't keep you @gmail address for that. Everything I have read seems to indicate that I would need some kind of hosted email for that. I am working on developing my own site, but am not ready to migrate to hosted email yet. Just looking for push gmail without having to use their app. I like the stock mail app better.

Blame Microsoft not Google. For each EAS (Exchange Active Sync) connection, Google has to license the EAS protocol. It got expensive, so they axed it.
