Anyone seen any benchmarks for the i7 1.7GHz / 8GB model yet? I've seen plenty for the midrange, but I'm interested in how the i7 handles Photoshop.

That's exactly what I'm thinking about doing. I love my rMBP, but the new MBAs are sexy. Can't wait to see Photoshop benchmarks.
Do the Apple retail stores carry the top-end model, or does it have to be ordered?
I guess the ultimate is available at the apple stores. I got mine from the boulder Colorado store
Does it handle the Thunderbolt Display pretty well in clamshell mode? I may just have to go pick on up tomorrow.

I've always got mine open next to the display. It works very well. And actually you can easily tell the ssd speed jump from the rMBP.
That's what I'm most interested in. I do development primarily, so that's always nice. I just need it to be able to handle Photoshop as well.
Got mine this morning and been using Photoshop CS6 with the MBA in clamshell. It stays nice and cool, and handles Photoshop beautifully.
