I just received my 2013 i7/8gig/256gb Air and it came with an LG display. I have compared it with an 2013 i5/4gig/256gb Air with a Samsung display and without a doubt, the Samsung display was much better. And that is with the Mac Rumors custom LG profile. Sad to say, but I'm going to send this machine back.

Curious how many people got Samsung and how many people got LG. Thoughts ?

every year it is like playing the lottery. I feel the same way as you, and no matter what I do I cannot stand the LG display compared to the samsung. It just seems very washed out to me.

I really wish Apple would let you pick. Or if they would only use Samsung.

How do you check? Same codes as 2012?

I have a 2011 (which looks "cooler") that says: LTH133BT01A03

And my new 2013 (which looks "warmer") is: LSN133BT01A02

Maybe I'm just not used to the new one, but it looks to have a more "yellow" white temperature. Any ideas?

Edit: Sorry guys, just saw the other thread, for others: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1597145/

I like my 2011 Samsung a lot!

I didn't mind AUO though, had it on a preunibody 15" MBP replacement panel.

I have an 11 inch base model that came with the LG display. I guess I'm a minority here, but I actually prefer the LG screen over the Samsung. I like the natural colors of the LG--some describe as "washed" out. In my opinion the Samsung has a more blue tint/more saturated colors. I've tested the new profiles people have been posting (comparable to that of the Samsung) and they are very dark and saturated. To each their own, I hope you get what you are looking for with your new one!

My 2013 has an LG display. I'm fine with it though. Contrast is good, image is sharp, and it's a bit on the cool side but I prefer that. I calibrated it like I do all my screens, and it looks great IMO.

Didn't know Apple were happy with people rocking back to the store and saying dudes you sold me an LG, I want an Samsung. or calling and asking for an RMA?

I noticed the same. Is there a way to calibrate it to look a bit cooler? The LG display is just as good (or bad, whatever you prefer) as the Samsung. The only thing is the white balance. The LG display even looks warmer than my 8 year old Apple Cinema display... :(
