The only thing I don't like about it is the new Brushed metal Aqua buttons. I liked them better "on top", now they look like they got hit with a hammer!

All I noticed is one of my classic apps takes a LOT longer to open files. The new version of Classic is crappy.
That's it.

seems a bit snappier on my g3 (powerbook lombard), but i don't notice any difference on my g4.
the new brushed metal window buttons are ugly, especially since they clash with the aqua icons. inconsistencies in depth like this is really annoying for the eye. takes awhile to notice what is wrong.
i have experienced major slowdowns opening large .psd files after running photoshop for a few hours but i do not know if this is related (i have over 200MB of RAM free, so it isn't a RAM issue). it does seem like a new issue though.
there have been no fixes for the bugs i have been tracking. most notably, no springloaded folders in the dock, and screwed up ftp privledges from the finder. (i am getting tired of using afp instead of ftp).

I Installed the update last night. the system is fast. but multitasking is horrible.
and ie crawls during multitasking. the scrolling is very rough even while running norton antivirus.
the dock team which developed the dock in 10.0 dosse not seem to be in it anymore. the smoothness is less. the dock on 10.0 used to be so smooth no matter what. even if the finder was to force quit.
i use a i mac g4 800 without classicc. so i cannot check for classic functionality.
network stat dockling stopped working with jaguar and still does not seem to work smoothly.
and wheen on earth is os x going to support and play vcd discs. only quick time in 9 recogonizes and plays vcd files.

I have to disagree on your dock account, the 10.0 version of the dock was laggy for me, but now in 10.2 it is great. To play your vcd's I think this app should do it:

same here, I remember 10.1 dock was so smooth, which is not the case on 10.2, it is so laggy and slow
can anyone send 10.1 dock application? or upload it somewhere?

I'm somewhat surprised. My Epson SC900 has started to work again!! It hasn't worked since Jaguar. (Maybe Epson was right to wait.) However, I still don't find my dual media card reader to be working.

By the way, I was just "downloading it to desktop" update with Software Update.
And guess what, after few hours of downloading it finished, of course it was not on desktop! I had to search for it, and found it in some cache dir of software update.
And then I tried to expand pkg.tar file with stuffit expander, and it didn't work!!! ahhahah! I hate this stupid application, why do they even make such lying crappy software! This is worst then Microsoft!
Now I have to download that **** over http with my ****ty modem...... aaaaaahhhh

You should go look at all the 11-year-olds whining over at spymac. It's really sad.

Links 2002 Championship Edition routinely crashes to an odd white dialog w/o buttons; there is a notice in several different languages to turn off the system by holding down the power button.
Links runs fine under os9, though.

wow, yeah, I thought there was a significant change to aqua......
but it turns out it was a change to a puny radio button thing.
Nobody should give a crap about those buttons.
I finally got it installed, and I haven't noticed anything. Im not
picky like SOME people. ;)

there's a small speed bump on my end, though it may be from some of the reoptimization of the system

Has anyone had any problems with their iPod after installing 10.2.3?
I now get this pop up asking me to register everytime I start iTunes and all the songs on my iPod do not appear in my iTunes anymore. Everytime I try to update it, I get a message saying it can't be updated because there isn't enough room on my iPod for my entire library. It doesn't seem to recognize any files already stored. Am I alone on this one or does someone else know what I'm talking about.

The Finder no longer starts up by itself when I log in. I have to do it manually.
Mail no longer has its icon.
I HAVE LOST ALL ABILITY TO DRAG AND DROP ANYTHING IN ANY APPLICATION!!!!!
Disk First aid and permissions checks are all happy. I, on the other hand, am not.

The wireless network had been working fine until I updated both my computers. Now, when the G3 falls asleep, the Epson USB printer connected to it disappears from my printer list on the Powerbook.

Mine was already doing that in 10.2.2. It even stopped working halfway through printing when the host machine went to sleep. Sleep behaviour seems very unreliable generally in X. My hard drive can spin down in the middle of a process. Anybody know where to get that utility which stops it doing that?

yeah, the more I use 10.2.3, I realize, especially classic apps run vigerously faster, and it makes OSX the first time I have enjoyed using the operating system.
I am reminded of the days of 8.0 & 8.5, when 8.6 was released, there was an amazing speed increase. I see 10.3 being beautiful (as well as any future 10.2.x releases)
I do not see any of the probs you guys are describing, sorry to hear that

I just recently bought a PowerBook 867 (my first Mac with Jaguar) and almost immediately installed 10.2.3, so I don't have a reference with a prior version... however, I have experienced frequent crashes. It will hang with just one application open, be it Internet Explorer, iTunes, or Mail. I've even recieved hard crashes where the Unix kernel text starts covering the screen (equivalent to Windows' Blue Screen of Death I presume.)
Anybody else have these problems?
I also downloaded the Ghost Recon demo to test the video card - which is fantastic btw - but the game crashes every 2-5 minutes, whether in X or 9.2.2.
Please tell me this is endemic to 10.2.3 and not some fundamental bios issue!!!

no no, I will defend 10.2.3, the more I played on it today, the more I realized how much better it is, and spped responce between OS9 & OSX, classic is so much faster (Thanks Apple)
but Word did crash on me today, though I was working in a 12 mb word file... I think that had to do more with word than anything else

iCal and iChat are cocoa apps, and itunes is a Carbon app as with Quicktime so these didn't get effected
