Whenever I open a folder from my Desktop, the sidebar in the Finder window is hidden! If I open from anywhere else, the sidebar is shown - but only from the Desktop is it hidden.
How do I fix this?

Finder Opening Without Sidebar

Try the following:
- Open a folder from the desktop
- Choose View > Show Sidebar
- Immediately close the window
- Open another folder from the desktop, and check if it's fixed
