iMac G5 RAM Question

My RevA G5 iMac was recently replaced with a RevC 1.9GHz iMac G5 by Apple. When I first got my iMac G5 (RevA) I spent nearly $200 on a 1GB stick of RAM. Will this RAM work in my new iMac G5 (RevC)? If so will there be much of a performance impact by using the less capable RAM (1GB) with the pre-installed newer RAM (512MB)? Thanks!

Is RevC the current (built in iSight) one? If so then the RAM will not work as the current iMacs use DDR2 and the old ones use plain old DDR. The two are completelly incompatable.

If the RevC is not the current one then you should be OK.

No the Rev A/B DDR RAM isn't compatible with the new Rev Cs

CanadaRAM wrote an excellent technical review of the new iMacs here, hopefully this should answer your question more fully.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that it would be compatible but that it would just reduce the newer RAM to run at the older RAMs ability (if that makes sense).
