View Full Version : Powerbook Just Wants To Sleep?

Nov 10, 2005, 08:40 AM
I was sitting in class the other day (tuesday) taking notes and messing with dreamweaver when all of a sudden my powerbook kept wanting to go to sleep. I was able to wake it up but it wouldn't stop. I thought maybe the battery was low but it said like 45min left or so. I figured it was a fluke and went home. Later that night after I had plugged it into AC Power it still kept wanting to sleep. I woke up yesterday and could not get it to wake up at all. I called Apple and while I was talking to them I looked over and it had woken up. They suggested re-calibrating the battery and resetting the power management. I tried the second option with them on the phone. It was fine for a while but the same thing is happening this morning. Right now it has stayed awake so I could type this but does any one know what is going on? Also when at home it is closed and plugged in to an external monitor. Thanks!

Someone else was complaining about this exact problem just yesterday in another forum on this board.
This was my reply to them:

Download this awesome app - coconutBattery.

Upon loading it up you'll be presented with a similar window to this:

Compare the original battery capacity to the current one. If it's low then you will need to replace the battery.

Thanks I tired that program but it says my battery is ok. My laptop seems to be ok now that I am in class. I'll just monitor it and if it comes back I will calle Apple. Thank you.
