Neither Seagate Technologies nor Hitachi Global Storage make flash,
Seagate, no. Hitachi, yes (Hitachi Semi is called Renesas these days).

Wonder what it would cost to put 16x4 = ~64gig in a full sized iPod, plus the price would surpass the current.

Only time will tell. :)

I'm fine with HDs to tell you the truth. I would be ok with having a .85" hd in my iPod instead of flash. But flash is nice too. I think either way you get a great piece of tech. Quite frankly, HDs are so nice now that it doesn't matter as much as one would think.

I'd like to see some notebooks with flash memory, that would be pretty cool. Only thing is that some poeple speak about realiability issues with flash. I dunno...

that would be pretty sweet though, a stack of ten of those flash chips for a 160GB flash hard drive in a powerbook.

dovetailing off this, why aren't HD's in notebooks getting bigger? (I suppose its just size). I mean a 20 iMac comes standard with 250GB, while the 15 PB still puts along with a standard 80. (not to mention the ibook 12" with a 40, I mean come on I can get an iPod with more than that).
