Belkin mini displayport to HDTV adapter for 45 clams was a nice investment. Had a spare 32 inch HDTV LCD sitting around. Glad to say, that this will make watching youtube guitar tutorials more fun in the studio AND online classes a little less fatigue ridden.

Pro tip: Use the underscan slider in Display Properties if you can't see the top or bottom of your screen on the TV or if you have black space above and below your mirror image.

The Apple hdmi adapter is not the same, this adapter is a single cable solution WITHOUT thunderbolt pass-thru. The Apple one has a FEMALE HDMI connector and a pass thru for TB. This means the Apple one is better if you have existing cables as you can still run a hard drive etc off of it... but as I am looking for a USB 3.0 external drive - this option suited me just fine.

Imagine if you have the thunderbolt display, or an LG 10point touchscreen monitor for Windows8 during bootcamp.
