Lack of visual distraction while maintaing the locational hierarchy which is a subtle combination of functional simplicity.

iOS 7 is not 'more simple'. The whole approach is aimed at being better, which is more than merely making it simple.

An Icon should be an attraction in a place with no other distraction.

Well, I can't disagree with that. However, when I do something like.... make a phone call and minimize the call, that neon green menu bar is more distracting and obnoxious than anything in the history of iOS. :)

So what would you say was the driving factor for the ui changes?

Something "fresh" to get people to buy new iOS devices and be somehow (more) excited about and interested in iOS in general.

iOS 6 unlock-settings-bluetooth-off and on.

iOS 7 swipe up bluetooth on or off.

Seems simpler to me.

All the other comments are needless crying.

None of that adds simplicity except control center. Eliminating the need for extra button presses would be an example of simplicity.

There's simplicity in function, and simplicity in form. They are not mutually exclusive or inclusive. A lot of iOS 7 seems to be about simplicity in form, with additional features added.

Hmm. A 5inch 1089p screen, biometrics, lta-a, would excite and interest me more.
